Sony and Panasonic say they will release 3-D television home systems in 2010. For Sony, they will start selling their televisions in june. Sony is known for its playstation 3 and bravia flatscreen tvs. Said by Hosaka, "the 40 and 46 inch tv will be going on the market on June 10th in Japan, and the 52 and 60 inch tvs will be available on July 16th." There is no set release date in the United State but the senior vice president of Sony say it should release in the united states around the same time as Japan.
The prices for these tv's are pretty outrageous if you ask me! But some people may really want 3-D television and can afford the huge price tag. For the 40 inch tv in 3-D it will cost around $3,200 and the biggest 60 inch tv in 3-D will cost around $6,400. What will be included in this package is two pairs of the 3-D glasses, a camera sensor that will adjust the sound and picture quality based on the viewers position, and a remote control button which will enable the switch from a regular 2-D to 3-D.
Some people from CNN say that they will not be watching CNN in 3-D. The next generation televisions would be able to play shows in 2-D and 3-D picture. They will also be able to show video games in 3-D which sony demonstrated. Personally, for the prices of these televisions, I would probably go to a best buy and just try out the tv. I would never spend thousands of dollars just to watch tv, especially with 3-D glasses. I do not really see how someone can feel comforaltable wearing the glasses trying to watch the news. At the rate with all the new technology coming out now a days, I feel like there will just be something else coming out next year that will be bigger and better then the 3-D television.

3-D t.v.'s will be cool for the first so many years until they find many problems with them. That seems to be how it goes for technology these days. The price for them is crazy! I would think having to wear those 3-D glasses would get annoying after a while. It was a good idea but what is going to come out next?
ReplyDeleteI personally would not like 3-D TV. One I could get dizzy, and two I like it the way it is now. The price is even more outrageous, and I also think it wouldn't be a big hit for the old folk. I also am not a fan of wearing red and blue glasses to watch a movie let alone TV. But who knows what will happen with this project.
ReplyDeleteI agree that 3D is overrated. Yes, it's kind of cool what technology can do. However, the current set up of television (as seen in most living rooms throughout the U.S.) works out well, most of the bugs have been taken care of by now. Some people simply do not like watching in 3D, it's too graphic. If 3D televisions were to be a hit, would 2D fade out?
ReplyDeleteThe prices for these tv's are enormous. I can't imagine having to spend as much money for a tv as i would for a decent car. I think that wearing glasses everytime you wanted to watch the 3D version would also become very annoying. And like said previously, I believe with technology these days there is always bigger and better things coming out. We can't even keep up, things are becoming obsolete with new technology rising and with more things coming out the cost of the previous one usually drops.
ReplyDeleteWho would really want to pay that much for a television? I definitely would not. I think that 3-D television would get very sickening and would end up going back to the old, "new" televisions. On top of that, I would hate to put on those dumb pair of glasses all the time. It would get sickening fast! With the rate that technology is going, I'm sure that they will come up with something that is even better and more updated, which probably isn't very hard with the rate that they are going.
ReplyDeleteTimes are changing and ever new envension is coming one after another so fast. Everyone is talking about they would not buy this and that they like the old tv. Many people said that about the ipod and now you see everyone with one. I believe as time goes on the prices will drop and soon enough everyone will have one. The future is coming fast, and so many more unthinkable things will come into our lives. I myself can't wait to see what is in store for us.
ReplyDeleteThe flat screen, and plasma tv's were new at one point now everyone has those. Then it was the touch screen electronics and now its the 3-D tvs. Everything is evolving and thats always the way its going to be. I for one would love to buy a 3-D tv, but like everything else, it's going to be very expensive for awhile untill everyone has one, then when the price lowers, I would probably buy one.
ReplyDeleteI think that idea of 3-D televisions is a really cool idea, but like you said the prices are so extreme that there is no way I would be able to afford getting one. It would be neat just to go and try it out. Even though I think this is a really cool idea, it makes me wonder if it is really necessary. Do we need a t.v. that is that extravagant? I think that it is a little outrageous, but a neat idea that once the prices come down will probably be a very popular product.
